BoardLink

By participating in nonprofit board service you have the unique opportunity to share your professional skills and expertise to make a significant difference in your community. Integrating board volunteerism into your workforce management strategy can be a powerful way to create balance so employees stay engaged and find fulfillment in their lives

BoardLink Process

Nomination

Candidates are nominated to participate in the board-matching program by their employers. Individuals complete an application that asks for professional and educational background, and to identify types of organizations the candidate might interested in serving (i.e. health and human services, arts and culture, education).

Interview

All  candidates are interviewed to assess their unique backgrounds and passions and link them with specific nonprofit board opportunities that meet their interests and match their skills.

Referral

When a candidate decides which organization to pursue, a BoardLink representative will contact that organization to recommend the candidate. The candidate then meets with the board and staff leadership of the nonprofit to determine if it's a mutually good fit. If agreed, the candidate moves forward in the organization's recruitment process and joins a committee or is elected to the nonprofit board.

Training

Candidates in the board matching program attend a in person or webinar training on nonprofit board governance and the role of a nonprofit board member. The seminar includes information about trends and best practices in the nonprofit sector, roles and responsibilities of board members, legal and fiduciary responsibilities.

We will work with your employees until they find the right match.

If you are a local business or nonprofit interested in BoardLink services please call The Volunteer Center of Bergen County at 201-489-9454 ext 205.

INSPIRING LEADERSHIP THROUGH PRO BONO SKILLS-BASED VOLUNTEERING

Pro bono--short for pro bono publico, "for the public good"-- is a Latin phrase meaning professional services donated at low or no cost to nonprofit organizations.

Do you want your employees to make a difference beyond the typical done-in-a-day group volunteer project?

You can put their skills – marketing, accounting, human resources, technology – to work for a non-profit organization.  We can help you determine which skills your employees can offer and match them with a non-profit agency that can put those skills to work.

Pro bono service is critical to the success of the nonprofit sector and for building a new contract between business professionals and society.

This critical service will be offered to  corporate businesses and community nonprofits soon!
