The Chore Service is a dual impact program.  First, it keeps active seniors meaningfully engaged in community service. Secondly, by installing grab bars and railings and performing other minor, safety repairs, the Chore Service ensures that senior citizens and the disabled remain independent and safe in their homes.

The Chore Service installed 1,678 grab bars in 2016 and served nearly 1,500 unduplicated clients in all 70 municipalities of Bergen County. As importantly, Chore keeps 45-50 senior citizen volunteers active, engaged and making a difference.  Through Chore, we are Redefining Retirement.

All Chore Service labor is performed for free by our volunteers; clients only cover the cost of materials.
